Pokhara Valley, 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu, Nepal's capital city, is a blend of rich farmland, forested hills and half a dozen lakes. The 124 square kilometer valley at an average altitude of 900 meters, is cut by the Gandaki river one of the seven Gandaki rivers that bisect the central hills. The river appears and disappears throughout the valley, carving deep and narrow canyons in the valley's soft subsoil. This excellent soil makes the valley a verdant nursery with the widest assortment of flower everywhere.
